Kitty Elbow Patch DIY with Lisa of LaLa Faux Bois

Hello there! I'm Lisa from lala fauxbois, and I'm so excited to be posting over here on Amy's wonderful blog!

Like Amy, I am a total cat lover so I thought I would show you a way to kitty-fy a sweater. I've been going a little crazy over elbow patches this fall and thought they would be even awesome-er as cats!

First draw a pattern on card stock- I kept scribbling until I found a shape I liked- then cut out 2 of your shape from fabric. I used a mustard yellow felt so it would be sturdy and not fray.

I enlisted some help to pin them on the sweater centered on my elbows. You could also use a fabric marker to mark the spot or a dab of fabric glue.

With embroidery floss, stitch your kitties in to place and be careful to keep them straight as you go. I like the look of uneven stitches so I varied the size and spacing a little.

Try to get a cute picture with your kitty even though they may try to wriggle away and it will just look akward...

Now wear your sweater with crafty-cat-lady pride!

If you want to see more about my cat-lady adventures and obsessions with traveling, vintage, and making stuff come by the blog and say hello!

  11. How adorable, what a sweet idea but alas it is spring/summer here in Australia now. We at least it's always a good time to funk-ify the winter wardrobe in the meantime.
