We are the proud owners of a 1984 Westfalia Vanagon. (Otherwise known as The Westy, Monique, our firstborn child, etc.)
Isn't she beautiful? We named the Westy Monique because she's a big girl. She's got wide-set hips, alright?
We often take the Westy on numerous camping excursions around the mountainous regions of Utah. The Westy comes complete with a kitchen, including a sink, stove, and refrigerator. And in case you're wondering if it's as awesome as it sounds, well, it is.
We took the Westy to LA in the fall of 2010 to see Belle & Sebastian as well as Jenny and Johnny. Easily the best trip to date. We also recently took her to a Westy meetup in Moab, UT. It was kind of the best week of our lives.
She's kind of our pride and joy. And that's kind of an understatement.

And if you're wondering whether or not you should get one for yourself, well, yes. You should.

how cute! I wish our vanagon had a kitchenette, we got one early this summer. She is a 1985 and came painted: http://lostslipper.blogspot.com/2011/07/vanagon.h...
Also I saw Belle and Sebastian on that tour too, but in Brooklyn! you are my new favorite blogger.
Eeee marissa!! That's incredible. Vanagons are where it's at!! So happy to meet a kindred vanagon spirit. Thanks for reading!
I just discovered your blog and I happen to be OBSESSED with Westfalias, no lie (although I like 70's ones best, orange and green are my favorite colors). Automatic awesome.
Yes! I just noticed your blog because of the westy in your ad. Awesome! I grew up camping in a westfalia and one of my main attractions to my current boyfriend is that he used to own a westfalia that he travelled to Dead shows in. And now he and I look forward to the day when we can buy one together and create new memories for our little family in. They are so expensive nowadays, though!
Love your blog!

Ahh Julie that's awesome!! I always love meeting someone who understands the magnificence of the Westfalia.
You guys should totally get one! Ours is a piece of crap, but it runs well and was very affordable! We just have to fix up her interior a little bit. Westys forever!
Oh-Mi-Gosh!
Words can't describe my delight. I want one badly & am totally jealous. Firstly, because you have a Westy and secondly because you go camping in Utah. Next time take me with you?

I am so excited to find a blogger with Westaflia love. Unfortunately I don't have one yet, but my husband and I are seriously considering selling our 2007 Ford Focus that we rarely drive to live out our dream of owning a camper.
My husband and I have an 87 Westy...we call her Bronze Shuga. Hands down best purchase we ever made!
Whaaat, that's awesome, Kelsey! Westy soul sistuhs. You guys should come to the Syncro Solstice meetup in May! I guess I don't know where you're from, but it's in Moab, UT. Can't wait!
