Pay it Forward 2011

So here's the deal. I was having the WORST day today. One of those days when nothing goes right, none of your favorite albums are really doing the trick, and all you want to do is crawl into a hole with a little Ben & Jerry and a lot of self-loathing.

Thinking all was lost, I dejectedly opened my mailbox only to find this lovely, lovely package waiting for me from the oh-so-pleasant Christina of Cookie Louise Pleaze!

And just like that, Christina made my day with one of her b-e-a-utiful flower crowns, handmade lovingly by her skillful hands!

I love it muchly, and I love Cristina even more for her kindness.

So why the craft love from Christina? Well she was awesome enough to let me in on a little project called Pay it Forward 2011--a big conglomeration of crafty love and goodness that's taking the blogosphere by storm.

Here's how it works:

Remember: the project is called Pay It Forward 2011 so you have to get all of your handmade lovelies sent out in 2011!

***My Pay it Forward is now closed, but please, please, please start one of your own! I promise it's just full of good times!***

So now that Christina sent her crafty kindness my way, it's my turn to pay it forward to the first 5 commenters on this post. I am beyond excited about this project. If I can make someone's day a tiny fraction of how Christina made my day today, I will consider this a wild success.

My mind is already swimming with the lovely things I want to send to you, lovely readers!

If you're not one of the five, please feel free to start one of these on your own blog! I don't really know who started this--I think it's just a chain of people, so start your own and join the movement!

I made this little button for you guys if you'd like to post it on your blog and further this thing. I think everyone can use a little crafty pick-me-up every now and again, and I think snail mail packages are the best kind!

There you have it! Pay it Forward 2011. Can't wait to get crafting for the lucky 5!

a little place known as amy's mecca

It's true! The craft room is FINALLY unpacked. Finally. And after many hours of tearing down cardboard boxes and throwing away of crap that really shouldn't have made it through the move, it's ready. It's nothing glamorous, of course. I have two supa ghetto craft tables as my table, but they were free and they will do.

My main goal with the craft room was to create a space full of funk and nonsense that had nothing to do with formality and everything to do with me and my odd sensibilities. Hence, the big wall of inspiration, pictured in the 2nd picture above. I plan to fill that with anything and everything inspiring that comes my way.

Of course, Royal shares this space with me as well, seeing as he follows me everywhere. I luff him. There's a window in here that he is quite fond of and can often be found basking in front of, as seen here:

And when I said I have this all to myself, I lied. Mitchell shares it too with his big ol' Hackintosh. We have been collecting these band posters for years, and we thought this would be the perfect space to hang them all up. My favorites are the Rilo and Arcade Fire ones, of course. It might be a tad on the college dorm side, but I don't really care. This is my inspiration room, and any of you that know me know that Amy doesn't exist without music. So it really just makes perfectly good sense to hang these despite people's interior designerly doubts.

(On a soapbox side note, does anyone else feel like there shouldn't really be interior design rules? If you love it and it inspires you, it should be in your home. Bottom line. Poop on the interior design snoots.)

I hope you enjoyed my funk-tastic craft room. I spend hours here and love every minute of it. Come on ova and craft with me, ya?
