I'm a sewer, a crafter, a voracious thrifter, potential hoarder, and owner of a 1984 Westfalia Vanagon. I'm a writer and a designer, but mostly just a secret cat lady. Learn more about me here.

I never thought it would happen…
But I've turned into a full-fledged pool rat.
Indeed. We spend most of our days at our condo's pool. Every day. After work. Find me here.
Today we will be celebrating the 4th with my favorite ladies--Jenny, Erin, and Laura from The Hungry Fashionista.
When it's 90+ degrees out for four months out of the year, you really have no other choice but to live in the pool.
Mmm hmmm.Happy 4th of July, everyone! Hope your day is full of parades, kicking back by the pool, and fireworks. Keep it real and wear your sunscreen!
PS--How are you surviving this summer? Is it ridiculously hot where you are like it is here? And do you love it or hate it? Because I'll be straight with you--I hate summer heat. Lots. But nothing a little pool time and limeade can't fix, right?
bobby d said the times are changin'
Every once in a while you have a weekend that blows you away. Life changing events mixed with strokes of good luck and topped with copious amounts of good food and company.
Be warned. Things are about to get sentimental. Possibly even cheesy. I'll try and keep it short.
Yesterday I had the incredible opportunity of being in the delivery room when my 5th little nephew was born. I don't know that I've ever really had that monumental of an experience thus far in my meager 23 (almost 24) years. I mean, I knew babies were cool and all, but to see one be born and to come out that beautiful was more than my little inexperienced heart could handle.
Here he is, head full of hair and all. Little Nolan Paul Hyer.
Pretty sweet to hold something so precious 5 minutes after being born. Kinda made my life.
And as if greeting little baby Nolan into the world wasn't enough for my morale, we also got the condo.
Mitchell and I are officially homeowners, condo rats, and city dwellers. Kinda can't wait to ride our bikes around downtown Salt Lake City, go to the farmers market, and all the free concerts at the park in the summer.
Anyway, all I'm really trying to say is that it was one of those weekends that helped me to remember that life is good. It's the little things that count and lead you to the big monumental life changes. All of it, good or bad, is beneifical. Just gotta keep it real, you know?
And.....end corny rant.
So, dear readers, thank you for reading. I hope life finds you in the best of circumstances. And if not, I hope that the little things will all add up for you and turn into one glorious big thing that makes you infinitely happy.
Happy Saturday.
(ps...I also had an amazing thrift bounty today. I'll be back this week showing off my treasures. hint...there MAY be a 4th pair of cowboy boots involved...)
