Halloween Party Ideas
My cute mom who is now a proud grandma to 5 nephews throws a Halloween party every year where we eat festive treats, do a fun craft, and play all kinds of games. This year I helped her plan it all out, and it couldn't have been more fun if I wanted it to.
The ideas all came from a variety of sources, and while they weren't my ideas, I thought I'd put them all together here in case you needed some ideas for your Halloween party this year.

Witch string cheese fingers for appetizers.
Witch finger breadsticks to go with our pizza and salad dinner. These are just rhodes dough dyed green rolled into snakes with an almond placed on the end for a fingernail. We copied a local bakery for this idea.
These are simple cupcakes we made fancy with some skeleton chocolates. We made the chocolates using green Wilton melting chocolates and this Wilton chocolate mold we found at Target.
We found these awesome straws at the local dollar store, but it looks like you can buy them online here.
These cups came from Target, too, but the salad tongs--not so sure. They sure are great, though!
This eyeball game was a huge hit. We just cooked a TON of spaghetti, dyed it pink with food coloring, and put it in a big cauldron. We then put a bunch of plastic eyeballs we got at the dollar store in there and gave each kid 30 seconds to find as many eyeballs as they could. They loved it! It's messy, though, so be sure to play it on tile. (Amazon sells these eyeballs here.)
The mummy game is a classic. Just let the kids race to see who can wrap up their mummy the fastest with toilet paper. I played this in elementary school and was so excited to see my nephews loving it as much as I did.
We also played the cobweb game where you let the kids sit in a circle, and have them pass around a big ball of black yarn to create a giant spiderweb. I didn't catch a picture of this one, but it's a quick and easy game kids love.
As for the craft, we went with these silly googly eye pumpkins inspired by--who else--Martha Stewart. We combined her zombie pumpkins with her vampire pumpkins to make these guys.
They require no gutting mess, and the kids just need a little help to make the holes the right size. We used chocolate eyeballs and cheap plastic fangs from the dollar store. We also used some silly hillbilly teeth to mix things up.
It was a great party, but only because Halloween is the BEST. Are you having a Halloween party this year? What are your plans?
fall is best because…
Fall is best because of visits to the pumpkin patch with my 5 sweet nephews. Being an aunt is basically the best ever--I can't begin to tell you how much I love all 5 of these crazy boys. (And a niece on the way in November. Yay Abi and Ryan!)
Someone named Henry insisted on wearing his tiger costume to the patch:
Every single one of those boys have an amazing personality with smarts to boot. I'm a proud aunt, you know? And if you've ever wondered when Mitch and I are getting on the baby wagon--well, we're not because why would we need to when we've got these crazy kids? Being an aunt is best for now.
I love my fambly. I am one lucky lady. Happy fall!

fall must-haves with cassie of the veda house

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7
Hi A is for Ampersand readers! This is Cassie from The Veda House and I'm guest posting today and sharing a fall wardrobe suggestion, something I'd love to have in my closet. Over the past year I've oooing and ahhhing over fashion blogs and admiring their ability to put seemingly simple outfits together. I'm no fashionista, but I do have my fall wardrobe go to items like ankle boots, layers upon layers, warm color palettes, and scarves!
Because I'm a petite gal, finding clothing items can be a challenge and usually means I have to do some extra searching. Collecting inspiration on the internet and putting together mock outfits has proven to be a good way to piece together a wardrobe that is well thought out (saves money and time too!) I'd suggest getting your staple fall items (mine are mentioned above) and then adding a few fun items in there to spice things up (hats, jewelry and a fun blouse.)
Feel free to stop by my Passion for Fashion mood board on Pinterest to see other items I've been eyeing.
I hope you enjoyed some wardrobe inspiration. Stop by the blog and see my latest redesign. I'm pretty happy with it.

If you haven't stopped by Cassie's INSANELY beautiful blog, be sure to stop everything and go NOW. Her photos are gorgeous, her design sense is spot on, and I'm a huge fan and know you will be, too. Thanks for sharing your fall wardrobe staples, Cassie!
