A few thoughts on dressing for a style conference.

1.) It's stressful.
2.) I didn't fit in AT ALL.
3.) I'm ok with fact #2.
4.) When it rains, you might as well just give up on looking cute. Especially if cabs are impossible to find thanks to SXSW. Thanks, a lot, hipsters! Stealin' my cabs. Jerks.

Yes, dressing in Austin was a challenge. Here's a little ensemble I wore out on our big vintage/thrifting date with the ladies. A simple, not-rain-friendly outfit that left me feeling nice and wet and soggy all day long. Perfection!

So, the next time you pack for a rainy style conference, here's one word of advice: GALOSHES.

Whilst packing for Austin, I just so happened to pack this thrifted umbrella dress. When I saw it at the thrifts I thought...yeah! Umbrellas are cool! I altered it, paired it with a thrifted vest and ascot shirt, and packed it happily thinking I'd be so cool in Austin.

Then it rained for three days straight.

Once I pulled this out on Sunday, the last thing in the world I wanted to see were umbrellas plastered on my dress. Curse you, rain! Curse yooooooou! It's cool, though. I wore it anyway and felt MAJORLY absurd next to all of the high fashion bloggers at the conference. Oh well. Stilettos and designer clothing aren't my thang. I'm cool to own that.

Isn't Lauren a total babe? I'm telling you, LuLus. Hire us. We're so hot right now.
