the old camera bag

I've spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect camera bag. A lot. And mostly to no avail. But last year my BFF and I had a lucky strike of inspiration at the thrift store one day--why pay $200 for a camera bag when you can thrift a vintage bag and make an insert for it? Thus my trusty camera bag was born into a glorious existence of camera bag love.

I've had this bag for awhile now and take it with me everywhere I go. I don't always take all 3 cameras because that's heavy and annoying, but the old Nikon is always with me. Nothing fancy, but she gets the job done.

Looking at the expired film, I'm feeling bummed that my supply is just about gone. When I first got my Diana two years ago my photographer pop donated 4 boxes of super old and expired film to me. It expired in 1994, but it works beautifully and gives all kinds of crazy effects to the film. I'm down to my last box and wishing I could dig up more. Expired film is so much more fun.

Also, let's talk about this Kat Von D lipstick. Let's talk about how I've tried A LOT of red lipstick in the past couple of months and none of them have ever made me this happy to get ready in the morning. If you haven't tried her foiled love lipstick line yet, GET ON IT. That right there is the Adora, and I wear it daily. So fantastic. Completely obsessed.

Thanks for taking a little peek at my silly camera bag on this chilly Monday. How was your weekend? I have to say that I don't know that I've ever been so lazy in my life. Hooray for weekends of sloth.

The Oregon Coast According to Diana

I finally got around to getting my Diana film from Oregon processed this week. Sending in a roll of film is always 50% stressful and 50% pee-your-pants excitement for me. Will it be all black? Overexposed? Outlandishly amazing? But this time around I decided to take a shot at cross processing, and ladies and (potentially) gents--I'm a believer.

The colors are much more vibrant, they have that Diana look that I've never quite been able to get, and I'm so pleased. Huzzah for learning experiences! The best part is cross processing didn't even cost more. The more you know!

These next three are my absolute favorites. These are from a roll of expired 100 E-6 film, and unfortunately, these are pretty much the only three that came out from that roll. The rest were from Multnomah Falls, and it was just completely too dark. But I'm glad I got these three!

These are all completely un-photoshopped, and from here on out I think I'll be cross processing all of my diana film. Hooray! What are your lomography tips?

Diana Meets the Summer

Remember that one roll of really bad Diana film? The one that I had such high hopes for that were ruthlessly dashed by my irresponsible lomo boldness? Well I've redeemed myself.

Each roll of terrible Diana film results in a crazed desire to make it right. Every bad roll inevitably leads me to immediately load another roll of expired film and get out on the town, lessons learned in tow. And that's exactly what I did last weekend on our weekly trip to the farmer's market.

Finally! A semi-successful roll. They're not all winners, but they're certainly a step up from the last roll. Sooo much to learn.

On a side note, you have NO idea how long I've wanted to photograph this mural. Pretty much my entire life I've passed it and thought "hey, I should take a picture of that." 24 years later I did.

Oh, and here's me shrugging off any lessons I learned about taking Diana in the shade with 100 film. Seriously, Amy? I never learn. But I do love these ladies. Muchly.

And here is why I bought the Diana in the first place. Dreamy photos like this one:

Oh, Diana. You scamp. I'll conquer her yet!
