of woolen sweaters and tumbling cats

Breakfast dates go beyond a mere frivolity in the Morby household. We like to think of breakfast dates as a crucial part of the weekend experience. In fact, we'd go so far as to say that Saturday is America's official day of breakfast feasts AND that brinner is a perfectly acceptable dinner 4 of the 7 days of the week.

If you disagree, well, you're wrong. And that's all there is to it. That being said, and for lack of a better segue, here's what I wore to our last breakfast date. See? Suuuper lame segue.

And oooooh this scarf. I have this incredible blog friend named Caroline who recently turned into a local friend, and she found this for me whilst thrifting one day. I'm mildly and/or WILDLY obsessed with it, so THANK YOU, Caroline! I keep it on my purse always.

See the Morbys here in their natural habitats, snacking on the food that evolutionary  magic has told them to love.

Do you love breakfast as much as I do? I bet you don't. :)

We totally agree and have been known to frequent our breakfast joint so much they say things like "welcome home" when we walk in.

  2. jodi says:

I'm 100% in agreement. Brinner and breakfast dates are monumental! :) I love that outfit!

  3. Lo Hood says:

Breakfast is one of my most favorite things...but after moving away from Vermont I've had a tough time finding really awesome little joints to indulge in...maybe that's for the best! Love your outfit...those cats..love it! :) -Lo

Not only is breakfast (and brinner) a must in my world of food, but eating breakfast (and brinner) out is the ultimate in foodie heaven! I have an ongoing breakfast date with a dear friend of mine; it's been going on for over 5 years now - every Monday morning at the same diner. Life seems wrong when that Monday breakfast date gets canceled. But then I rectify it by going out for breakfast/brinner another day of the week.
Ah, breakfast outings, you make life complete.
Also? I am crazy-cat-lady in love with that scarf!

Hehehe, I love this post! I, too, am a breakfast fiend...I inherited the trait from my father who thinks pancakes are the best dinner a person could possibly have and I can't disagree. You have the perfect out-to-breakfast outfit here (love the kitty scarf!!!)...it looks oh so cozy and makes me want to put on something similar and head out to our local cajun place for a NoLA brunch tomorrow morning: mimosas, beignets, eggs florentine, and what have you. Oh. Yum.

PS: Happy friiiiday! I'm getting my cat today which means I am unreasonably excited. Pictures to come.

Eek! Kristin!!!! I can't WAIT to see your new kitty! Best of luck with everything--making the adjustment can be hard for them, but they warm right up!

im a breakfast junkie. i grew up at the beach where brunch is a big deal on the weekends. i cant quite get my bf into indulging on the weekends, which is a shame bc there are some awesome places to dine in our hood. the worst was san francisco- brunch there is at like 9 or 10 am. crazy, i know. here in nyc, brunch doesnt start until 1.

Me too, Erica! We love Market Street's brunch a lot, but we also love Over the Counter for our greasy, diner breakfast fix. We'll have to try Park Cafe!

Breakfast dates are by far superior to conventional evening dates- the day is your oyster (and so is the pastry shelf)!! In fact, we've pretty much given up on evening dates, in favor of having more breakfast dates... life is good.
