A little bit ago I realized there was an estate sale going on at the house across the street from my work. Knowing that estate sales often yield outlandishly fabulous finds, I headed over there, cash and adventurous spirit in hand.
Bottom line, I'm so insanely glad I braved the crowds and ornery homeowners because that place was a gold mine. Three floors of maze hallways and nooks and crannies filled with amazingness. They had a kitchen in the basement straight out of 1960. I couldn't believe it. I audibly gasped when I saw the mint green stove and washer and dryer in perfect condition. Alas, I didn't have my phone, so no pictures to prove it, but let it be known that it was amazing.
I had to use every last bit of restraint to not buy everything I saw. I made it out with a few reasonable purchases.
This locket. omg. I about died when my co-worker pointed it out. So so pretty. And only $5! I got that cool brooch, too, for just $1.
A closer shot of the locket. This kind of shows how large it is. It's so perfect.
and this perfectly unused towel. I've got big plans for it. Pillow plans. With blue piping. It's going to be lovely.
but my favorite find consisted of a number of vintage sheets. so so pretty and perfect for sewing! All for about $4 to boot!
I've got big plans for these sheets, too. Perhaps a duvet cover? Or curtains?
Love those estate sales. It's fascinating to walk through a home and try to see what a person was like based on their possessions. All I know is the 50s and 60s were where it was at. Love it.
