dude. i very well might be the happiest girl in america right now. i just learned how to resize AND hem a vintage dress. do you realize the whole new world of options opening up for me right now?! the DI is now a gold mine. every thrift store for that matter is piles and piles of retro gold because i can make dresses work for me. huzzah!
we found this lovely little lovely at the DI tonight. $6 and fabulous. a vision in retro floral mumu. it just needed a little vision and some sewing courage.
after some daring pinning and a lot of help from my sweet Mitchell, the end result yielded something like this:
and the buttons. these were the main reason i decided to buy this dress and fix it up. so cute.
and there you have it. i'm pretty excited to wear it to my first day of orchestra. yes, i joined a community group! more details on that tomorrow.
one of the scariest sewing tasks is now checked off my list. besides the next project, which is drafting your own pattern based on your measurements. yikes. wish me luck on that one. ima need it.

This is so stinkin cute holy crap! I want that dress. Ps. Orange looks fabulous on you...not many people can pull that color off...
Amy that is fantastic! I'm very impressed!
I feel so so good about this dress. And jealous.
I love it! I'm totally jealous right now. I want your dress-altering talent.
