hmm. turns out piping sucks. royally. also turns out that it never pays to try and go ahead of the class and be daring when you really just shouldn't. nonetheless, i did. i tried piping because i had done it on a pillow before and experienced a minor level of success, but the hot pad...not so much.
at least the fabric was amazing?
let's just not talk about the corners. we'll just make sure the corners are well hidden by pots. i did one with the piping and one without like we were supposed to. and then i decided they needed a towel to go with them. i tried to be brave with lace trim on the towel even though i had just learned that i don't do well with trims. apparently i'm stubborn and iron-willed when it comes to sewing. i should stop that.
even though they're not perfect, i now know what not to do, right?

I don't know how my phone translated "I still" into "ovation.". Oh well.
Amy - don't worry! I've been a sewing fool for about 30 years and have made some pretty great clothes for everyone I know and home decor stuff, and ovation can't get piping to work on the corners! A tip is to have pretty rounded corners so you can skip the whole mitering fiasco altogether! Also another sewing tip is that sometimes things just don't turn out and you just cut your losses. ;(. I'm glad you are doing those sewing classes! Keep up the good work!
